Jay Vard Hansen, September 1, 1942 ~ January 10, 2010 (age 67)

“Our Poppy” Tremonton-Our special daddy, grandpa, and friend passed away from this life and into the loving arms of his daddy, mother, and brother on January 10, 2010. Jay Vard Hansen was born on September 1, 1942 to Alta Ordella Christensen and Martin Luther Hansen in Tremonton, Utah. As a youngster, Jay Vard spent countless hours at the family ranch in Faust Valley. He learned the value of hard work and determination that would carry him throughout his lifetime. Education was very important to Jay Vard and he found his calling in life as a teacher, a career that would span more than 36 years. 35 of those years were spent teaching many students at Box Elder Jr High School, 8th grade American History. Jay Vard wanted to make an impact in his student’s lives and he was an infamous storyteller. He married Peggy Almond in the Logan LDS temple on November 10, 1967. Together they raised 3 beautiful children; Wayne Jay, Martin Todd, and Pamela Irene. Jay Vard loved his family with all his heart and soul. They meant everything to him, especially in later years. His biggest joy in life was his gorgeous granddaughters that he loved dearly (Haley 17 and McKenna 4). Jay Vard was an extremely blessed and talented man. He had many hobbies including woodworking, that he made into his own business, golfing, music, photography, and writing. He was a talented musician and played in a local band during his college years with his best pal and cousin, Carlos Christensen. At the time of his death, Jay Vard was in the process of finishing his third novel in a series of cowboy-western fiction. He had a special love for nature and was able to portray that in his photography. Many of his favorites were old-west style and landscape portraits. Jay Vard is survived by his loving family; Peggy Hansen, Fallon NV; Wayne Hansen, Tremonton UT; Todd(Paula) Hansen, Brigham City UT; Pamela Hansen, SLC UT; and granddaughters Haley Ann(Todd) and McKenna Hansen(Pamela).
